Introduction

The BASE Enterprise Centre helps people in two ways.  First, to start their own business and second, to grow their existing businesses.  We do this by providing:

  • Incubation units for start-up businesses
  • Enterprise units for growth-inclined businesses
  • By providing information and advice
  • By allowing access to local and national enterprise-support agencies
  • By providing an environment for clients to network and develop their business network

The BASE Enterprise Centre is located in Mulhuddart, Dublin 15, Ireland.  It was established in 1995 to build a purpose-designed enterprise centre to assist in local economic/enterprise development in the Greater Blanchardstown area.  The Centre provides both incubator units for start-up enterprises in their first three years and general enterprise units for start-up and growth-phase businesses.  BASE is a registered charity and is established as a company limited by guarantee with a board of trustee directors.

Currently BASE has 32,500 square feet under management.  We provide a home for 30 indigenous companies who currently employ 113 people between them, not including the 8 people employed directly by BASE and 6 labour-market programme participants.  BASE is involved in the WINSENT Programme, funded under Interreg IV, to promote social entrepreneurship in Ireland and North Wales.  BASE is a member of the EMERGE Development Partnership working to promote ethnic minority entrepreneurship in Ireland.  BASE is also a member of the Small Firms Association (SFA), the Fingal Enterprise Alliance, the Mid-Eastern Enterprise Centres Association (MEECA), Dublin 15 Chamber of Commerce.  BASE is also associated through its CEO with the Institute of Management Consultants and Advisers in Ireland (IMCA) and the Independent Consultants and Advisers Group (ICAG).

BASE is a unique social enterprise and has proven one of the most successful such ventures in Ireland.  BASE has also been awarded the Excellence Through People Award recognising the quality of staff service and commitment to their clients.  BASE receives funding under the Community Services Programme funded by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, through Pobal.
